FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES A WEBSITE COST?

This is the most asked question I hear from potential clients who inquire about a website. To make it simple, websites have a number of working parts. From design, to development, to search engine optimization, there are many elements that are factored into making your product come to life. A basic 5 page website can cost $100 a page for a simple, quick website. If you choose to customize a pre-built template, this can run you $200 a page. If you want to design it first and then have me custom code it into the platform of your choice, this depends on what platform you’re using (i.e. WordPress, Magento, Shopify, etc.). Followed by this is a calendar, booking, POS system that can be quoted on an hourly rate. Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing will typically follow these phases and will add more work to the project. All projects are unique and can be tailored to your needs. HOW MUCH DOES A LOGO COST?

Some logos are very easy to determine the cost. On a $100/hr rate, I can create a simple logo within 1-2 hours. There are more complex logos that require complex illustrations and other logos that require different color schemes or variations. These will acquire more time and costs but with more time, comes more attention. Brand Kits are very useful for corporate and enterprise sized companies because they help construct a brand identity for years to come. My logo designs have varied throughout the years and cannot have a flat rate because everyones needs are different. Typically I will ask my clients to provide me with a few logo examples, then I provide as many concepts as they are willing to pay for. After that, we revise the logo, and I deliver a finalized logo or Brand Kit.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BUILD AN APP?

Apps can be tricky in that they may have more pieces to the puzzle than when you first imagined it. If it is a geo-located based app, I have to customize an API that is integrated with the app, and make sure that everything works good and fast. Another aspect of app development that is often misunderstood is whether you want the app for Apple, Android, or both. These, although very similar, can sometimes require different languages of code to work simultaneously. UX flowcharts are first drawn out to discover how the app will operate from user end to owner dashboard. After this, each screen must be designed with the proper brand guidelines that have been created or delivered. The app will then be coded into the framework, tested and the published. Each of these processes can be timely and will bring forth a number of questions but each will be answered as we create the app. The time that is allocated to all these services will be accounted for in the initial quote. To get a quote on an app, contact me and let’s discuss what package best suits you.

HOW CAN YOU CREATE MY PRODUCT REMOTELY?

In the last few years of my career, I have travelled and not been able to meet all of my clients in person. When I am working on 8 projects in one month, it is very difficult to meet my Los Angeles client at 6pm after my 5pm meeting with my New York client. Fortunately for everyone, I’ve made use of video and screen sharing applications such as Skype, Google Hangouts and Team Viewer to accommodate multiple meetings in one day. Most of my clients understand the importance of time, this is where screensharing saves time from parking, getting coffee, traffic, and other issues that arrive when meeting in person. Everyone has a job to do, and my goal is to streamline your work by taking care of your brand or digital platform so that you don’t have to waste your work time on it. I’ve had great success meeting with clients around the nation through remote meetings to help speed up the process and deliver awesome work.

HOW DO I PAY YOU?

Firstly, all of my projects have detailed proposals about what I’m doing, how I’m doing it and how long it will take me. My job proposals are very precise and I will never charge you for anything you don’t know about like I’ve heard others do. Most projects between $500-$1,000 will most likely be an hourly rate of $100/hr. It may sound like alot, but I’ve built websites from templates in 3 hours, which saves my clients money, time and the chance of getting cheated from an off-shore “developer” who you’ll barely be able to communicate your ideas to. Projects that are between the $1,000-$10,00 range will be on a 50, 25, 25 deposit system. This means that you will pay 50% of the total up front to secure my services, book me for the time it takes to complete your project, 25% upon a milestone, and the last 25% upon delivery. Projects over the $10,000 mark will be on a 10% or 20% system depending on project type, size, time and other things that have to be accounted for in the discussion of the proposal.

CAN I SEE SOME OF THE WORK YOU’VE DONE IN THE PAST?

I have lots of my previous work displayed in my portfolio and have demonstrated how my work has helped businesses in my case studies page of my website. I have many references upon request, and chances are, in my 15 years of being a successful private contractor, I’ve probably worked with a company just like yours. Many clients of mine stay with me because they understand that I continue to provide knowledge and services promptly and effectively. If you have any questions about my references, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE YOUR WORK?

I would never allow this to happen. Most of my initial consultations over the phone or screen share are to determine what you are looking for and to see if we are a good fit. I have been working too long to disappoint someone with my work. Instead, I work with my clients in real time to make sure I am always aligned with their needs.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU ARE DONE HELPING ME?

After I deliver my work to my clients, I always offer a monthly retainer to continue to catapult their brand or digital platform. I always work with my clients 30 days after delivery to make sure everything is running smoothly. In the past, I’ve also helped my clients interview and hire designers, developers, social media markers, photographer, videographers and other techies and creatives to ensure that my product will be taken care of with your business. Most clients come back to me because they understand that as returning clients, I always take care of them and give them discounts for coming back and working with me.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START A WEBSITE/APP?

A website needs a domain, hosting and an SSL certificate. These are the things we need to make the website come to life. Before that, we need to take all the necessary steps to design, develop, strategize and launch your product. There are other things that you can benefit from such as purchasing certain plugins for your site, budgeting for PPC and advertisements that we can discuss in a consultation.

HOW MANY WEBSITES HAVE YOU BUILT?

I built my first website in 2010 while in college. I had created a brand kit for a client and he asked if I could build him a website. Immediately, I began to learn how to code by taking online courses and teaching myself how to code. After that, I began to get referrals from him and began to build many websites in 2010. Since then, I have built one-page sites, added ecommerce to existing sites, fixed sites, built them from scratch and just a long list of website related projects. I average about 5-10 websites a month. Keep in mind that in my industry, the demand is very high, but the work can fluctuate, depending on my availability and lengths of current projects on my plate.
